Iain McPhail

Support Inspector

Iain joined Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary in 1993. He worked in local policing and specialist drug squad until 2000 when he was seconded to the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency based in Paisley. In 2007 he transferred to Grampian Police and continued his work in the covert policing arena. This included involvement with specialist training at the Scottish Police College.

Most recently, Iain was the Detective Inspector of the Economic Crime and Financial Investigation Unit within Specialist Crime Division, having operational responsibility for the North Command of Police Scotland in relation to significant financial related crimes.

Iain is an inspector in Police Scotland, and was seconded as a support inspector to the HM Inspectorate of Constabulary in Scotland (HMICS) in June 2018
