Trish joined former Lothian and Borders Police in 2005, initially serving as a response officer in Edinburgh. Following this, she moved onto detective roles within the CID and Public Protection Departments in Edinburgh and upon the formation of Police Scotland she joined the Major Investigation Team, working as an investigator and Family Liaison Officer on homicide investigations. She has worked as a Staff Officer to various Executive Officers and has twice visited Malawi, developing and delivering a training course on child protection and gender based violence for Malawian Police Officers.
Trish is a trained Hostage and Crisis Negotiator Coordinator and regularly assists with the training of Negotiators. Upon promotion, Trish worked in both Response and Community roles in Edinburgh and prior to joining HMICS she was the Community Inspector for Edinburgh City Centre. Trish is an Inspector in Police Scotland and was appointed as Support Inspector at HM Inspectorate of Constabulary in Scotland in March 2021.
