Steven Meikle

Lead Inspector - on secondment from Police Scotland

Steven is a Temporary Superintendent with Police Scotland, who joined HMICS as a Lead Inspector in September 2021.

Steven has served across a wide range of operational policing and corporate roles within the former Strathclyde Police and Police Scotland. On promotion to Sergeant, Steven worked with the former Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland (ACPOS) in the Crime Business Area portfolio and then moved to a specialist role in Road Policing, working across Ayrshire and Greater Glasgow Division. On being promoted to Inspector, Steven was posted to People and Development in the newly formed Police Scotland and developed the force Health, Safety and Wellbeing function.

Then as a Chief Inspector, Steven moved to Governance, Audit and Assurance and oversaw the force Information Management function and led on the implementation of the Data Protection Reform project for Police Scotland, leading on information and security compliance issues across the force.  Steven then returned to Ayrshire Division as a Local Area Commander in East Ayrshire before then being seconded to the Scottish Police Authority’s (SPA’s) Strategic Co-ordination Unit, to manage strategic relationships between the SPA and Police Scotland.
