HMICS launches online questionnaire about the role of the Scottish Police Authority (SPA)

24 June 2019

An online questionnaire has been launched by HMICS to allow members of the public, key stakeholder groups and others who have an interest in the governance of policing in Scotland to comment on how effectively the SPA is fulfilling their role.

HMICS is undertaking an inspection of the Scottish Police Authority. The aim of this inspection will be to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of the Scottish Police Authority in terms of fulfilling its core role. It will scrutinise how the Scottish Police Authority is meeting its statutory obligations under the Police and Fire Reform (Scotland) Act 2012 and as a public body.

HMICS previously reported on aspects of the SPA in June 2017, and we invite comment on any changes since that time.

The questionnaire should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete. The deadline for responses is Friday, 19 July 2019.

The information received will be used to inform the HMICS inspection which will be carried out over the summer 2019. A report of the inspection will be published in September 2019.

The responses to the online questionnaire will be anonymous and because of this, HMICS will not be able to provide individual feedback.
