HMICS seeks your views on the police investigation of Hate Crime

24 September 2020

An online survey has been launched by HMICS as part of our ongoing inspection of Hate Crime.  It is recognised that being the victim of any crime can for many be a distressing experience and have a long lasting and enduring impact.  When that crime is motivated by prejudice, hatred, or intolerance and where the beliefs, culture and ethnicity of the victim are an integral part, that experience can be even more distressing and have an effect upon the wider community.  HMICS is currently carrying out an inspection in this important area of policing and we seek your views as to the effectiveness and efficiency of Police Scotland's response to Hate Crime. This inspection is not related in any way to the parliamentary process surrounding the Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Bill.

Further information on our Terms of Reference can be found here.

The deadline for responses to the survey is 12 noon on 31 October 2020.
