New Assistant HM Inspector of Constabulary for Scotland appointed

Andy Cowie has taken up the post as the Assistant HMI of Constabulary, which is a Ministerial appointment.

He joins from the Police Service of Scotland on an inward secondment for a three year period commencing on 5th August 2013. Assistant Chief Constable Cowie brings with him over 25 years of policing experience and joins the Inspectorate at an exciting time for Scottish policing following the creation of the new police service on April 1. Working under the general direction of Her Majesty’s Inspector of Constabulary, he will be responsible in leading the day to day work of the Inspectorate  and will monitor and evaluate the performance of Police Scotland, to ensure high quality policing services are delivered to communities throughout Scotland.
