The purpose of this report is to provide commentary on the state, efficiency and effectiveness of policing in Scotland during 2012-13. The report aims to provide commentary both from a national perspective and within each police force area and the common police services (Forensic Services, Scottish Police College, Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency and Information Services) that constituted Scottish policing. An overview of the complexities and challenges faced during the year and highlighted performance in relation to a number of key areas has been provided.
