This thematic inspection of the police use of firearms in Scotland is based on the recommendations made by the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland (ACPOS) in its 2006 Protective Services Capability and Capacity Review (PSCCR) – Police Use of Firearms Workstream report. The thematic inspection follows directly from the ACPOS request for HMICS to assess the progress made.
