This review provides an overview of the performance of British Transport Police (BTP) in Scotland as well as the proposed transfer of the Scottish operations of BTP to Police Scotland. Evidence for this review was gathered in early 2017. The review was carried out under the Railways and Transport Safety Act 2003 and was submitted to the Department for Transport in August 2017. The review was published by the Department for Transport in December 2017, alongside a joint inspection of BTP by HMICS and HM Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services in England and Wales.
