Carly Bryce was appointed as Support Inspector in November 2024, joining the team on a temporary secondment for a two-year period. In this role, she supports the inspection and assurance process, including guiding Lead Inspectors on designing inspection methodologies and managing inspection activities in alignment with the HMICS inspection framework.

Carly has a distinguished background in policing, having joined Strathclyde Police in 2002. Over her career, she has held various operational roles across Argyll, including Oban and short-term assignments on the Isle of Tiree. Carly’s experience includes serving as an instructor at the Scottish Police College, where she delivered training to new recruits. She also represented Police Scotland internationally, delivering training abroad to develop policewomen in the Middle East.

In 2014, Carly transitioned to Tayside, where she worked in community policing and later supported the senior leadership in delivering policing to the communities of Angus, Dundee, and Perth & Kinross. Carly's career then took her into Policing Together, a national division within Police Scotland. In this capacity, she focused on crime prevention work through partnerships with businesses and national organisations to tackle issues affecting rural communities and broader acquisitive crime trends.

Carly’s broad experience and expertise in policing, training, and crime prevention provide her with a well-rounded perspective in her current role, contributing to the effective development and delivery of inspection activities within HMICS.
